Mission
The Raleigh Institute of Contemporary Art (RICA) was established by professional artists to provide an affordable, high -quality art education that will allow all aspiring artists to reach their highest potential – from new and emerging artists to well-established artists who want to increase their knowledge and hone their skills. RICA’s instructors are all prominent artists who bring a range of artistic philosophies and approaches to the educational process and to our art studios and classes. They share the belief that education is the foundation of all great art communities, and that on-going education is the journey all great artists must make.

Through the depth and breadth of RICA’s art classes, we are determined to see potential artists discover their passion, to help emerging artists become more established, and to inspire prominent artists to reach beyond their comfort zones.
- Our goal is for RICA to become a premier source for quality, on-going education in the arts for artists of all levels, and a significant arts resource for the Triangle community and beyond.
The Raleigh Institute of Contemporary Art’s education concept is based on affordable art class sessions that extend over a six-week period (6 lessons - one lesson per week). Over each six-week period, independent, established artists offer a variety of art classes and teach their own philosophy and technical skills. They bring to RICA art classes the same high quality and passion that they bring to their own art.
